VINE Coverage for Lawrence County
Kentucky calls its service VINE, Victim Information and Notification Everyday. Search and registration are available through VINELink or by calling 1-800-511-1670. Kentucky's official guidance describes information drawn from participating jail and prison source systems and notification when that source reports a custody change.
For a Lawrence County arrest, the local source is likely Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville. BSRDC serves Lawrence with three other member counties. A person later placed under KDOC authority may also have a state record. The two entries can represent successive stages, not duplicates to discard.
VINE is not a complete release file. It can provide timely source-agency status or custody-change information, but the BSRDC release sheet supplies the local transaction, KDOC Daily Releases supplies a dated state event, and the court order explains the legal basis.
Search a Lawrence County Inmate on VINELink
Begin with the best identity details available. A common name is not enough. Keep the last known facility, approximate age, aliases, and any offender or booking identifier beside the search.
- Open VINELink and select Kentucky.
- Choose “Find an Offender,” then enter part of the person's name or an offender ID.
- Compare the source agency, identifiers, and other available identity details across all matches.
- Open the correct record and copy its exact status wording, source, and retrieval time.
- If both a local-jail and DOC record appear, inspect both instead of assuming one replaces the other.
- Confirm the event through the agency record or court order when its legal meaning matters.
A broader Lawrence County released inmate search is useful when VINE has no match or the last known custody may have been state, federal, or immigration authority.
Note: Search partial names carefully, then use identifiers and source agency to avoid attaching another person's custody event to the subject.
What Lawrence County VINE Results Show
The visible fields depend on what the source agency sends. Copy labels as shown and do not turn a custody change into a claim about dismissal, innocence, sentence completion, or the absence of another hold.
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Name or offender identifier | Helps distinguish the intended record from similar names. |
| Source agency | Identifies whether the information came from a local jail, KDOC, or another covered Kentucky system. |
| Custody status | Reports the status supplied by that source at the time of its update. |
| Facility or location | Shows the reporting location or system, which may differ between jail and DOC records. |
| Custody-change information | Can record a release, transfer, or another event using the source's wording. |
| Release information | May show not-in-custody or release details supplied by the agency, but not the whole legal file. |
A VINE release notice is stronger than an inference drawn from disappearance from the active BSRDC roster. Still, a local “release” could lead to another authority, and a state release could begin parole, mandatory reentry supervision, or conditional discharge.
Register for Lawrence County Release Alerts
Registration attaches contact instructions to the selected source record. Kentucky states that registration information is confidential. Choose contact methods you control, and remember that a voicemail or shared email account may expose an alert to someone else.
- Open the correctly matched offender record.
- Select “Notify Me of Status Changes.”
- Choose phone and/or email and follow the prompts for each contact.
- For telephone notice, create the required four-digit PIN.
- When an automated call arrives, enter the PIN to acknowledge receipt.
- Return to the record if custody moves from the local jail to KDOC and register for the new source entry.
Without telephone acknowledgment, Kentucky's guidance says calls may repeat for up to 24 hours. The Attorney General describes jail-release attempts every 30 minutes during that period. That cadence describes delivery attempts to a registrant, not a public list of everyone released during a day.
Confirm a Lawrence County VINE Alert
For a local BSRDC detainee, call the jail at (606) 297-5245 and request the release or transfer transaction. Ask for the actual date and time, disposition, and receiving agency. Compare it with the Lawrence court docket and obtain the signed order when the bond, sentence, probation, or transport decision is important.
For a state-controlled person, search KOOL by name, PID, or DOC number. Review current location and supervision status, then match the DOC number in the KDOC Daily Releases archive. KDOC warns that KOOL data newer than 120 days may not be finalized and does not guarantee every entry's accuracy.
Lawrence County's Two-Record VINE Safeguard
Kentucky's own VINE FAQ warns that a DOC offender can have both a local-jail and a DOC record. It directs users to register for both. This is a practical Lawrence County issue because someone can move from BSRDC into KDOC custody after a felony sentence or transfer.
The BSRDC alert stream may stop when that local custody ends, while the KDOC record tracks the next phase. Registering only for the local entry can leave a gap after transfer. Registering only for the DOC entry can miss a local event that happens before state intake. Compare source agency and identifier at every stage.
This does not mean all similar records belong to one person. Match identity first. Save the status wording and check time, then treat each alert as a prompt to verify, not as a full custody history.
Why Lawrence County Alerts Need Verification
In February 2026, Kentucky announced that VINE had been restored after a vendor-caused incident generated false state-custody release alerts. The official notice told recipients to disregard the false notices and said notifications resumed after restoration. The event provides a concrete reason to corroborate every alert.
Check a BSRDC alert against the jail and Lawrence court file. Check a state alert against KOOL and Daily Releases. Keep the time of the alert and the time of confirmation separate. If the sources conflict, describe the conflict and contact the agency rather than choosing the result that appears most convenient.
Kentucky VINE Registration Instructions
The official Kentucky VINE information page explains the search, notification, and PIN process described above.

Use the current live instructions when registering, since screen labels can change while the underlying need to match the correct source record remains.
Read Lawrence County VINE Release Wording
A VINE custody change reports what its source agency transmitted. It does not prove that charges were dismissed, a sentence fully expired, or every hold ended. For BSRDC, ask whether the transaction was a bond release, court-ordered release, time served, sentence completion, or transfer. Preserve the exact response.
For KDOC, compare the VINE event with the Daily Releases type and the KOOL current location. Parole and mandatory reentry supervision end physical incarceration while state supervision continues. Conditional discharge is also a continuing legal status. A supervision-district location is not the same as a prison, but neither is it final discharge.
The Lawrence court record adds the case outcome. A bond order can coexist with pending charges. A judgment, probation order, later revocation, or transport order may explain why the custody source changed. Obtain the signed order when a docket summary does not settle the point.
No Lawrence County VINELink Match
Try less information first, including a partial name, then test known aliases or an offender ID. Check spelling and compare the expected source agency. If the person was recently moved, search both the local-jail and DOC layers because one entry may close before another becomes easy to find.
If no record appears, call BSRDC for a Lawrence County local detainee and search KOOL for a state-controlled person. Use CourtNet to locate the related Lawrence case. A negative VINE search cannot establish that the person was never booked, is currently free, or completed a sentence.
Use federal systems only when the case was federal. The BOP locator covers federal prison records, while ICE operates a separate civil immigration locator. Proximity to a federal prison with “Big Sandy” in its name does not make a BSRDC case federal.
Manage Lawrence County VINE Notices
Store the four-digit phone PIN where the intended recipient can reach it. An unacknowledged call may repeat, so answer the prompt when safe to do so. Add more than one confidential contact method if the live registration screen permits it, but consider who can access each phone, voicemail, or inbox.
Review registrations after a transfer. The local BSRDC entry and a later KDOC entry may require separate subscriptions. Keep the offender identifier, source agency, date registered, and contact method in a private note so an old alert stream is not mistaken for current coverage.
VINE should supplement, not replace, direct safety planning or official verification. A delayed, missed, or erroneous notification can occur. The agency that created the custody record remains the source for the actual event and its precise legal meaning.
Periodically check that the selected record still matches the intended person and that contact details remain current. A move between BSRDC and KDOC may require a new registration. Save confirmation details without sharing private contact information, and remove an obsolete subscription through the current VINE controls when it is no longer needed.
If an alert conflicts with the live agency record, call the source named in VINE. Record the conflicting wording and times. This creates a clear trail while the agency checks whether the difference reflects lag, transfer processing, correction, or an erroneous notice.
Do not delete the earlier note when a correction arrives. Add the confirmed result, its source, and its time so the sequence remains clear and the inaccurate alert is not repeated later.
